WHAT'S HAPPENING IN VERBAL WARNING LAND AS FREEDOM DAY APPROACHES?
Greetings from Verbal Warning land and hope you are all still surviving the plague as we go into July.
Thankfully, it looks like venues and gigs will soon be rocking again.
Looking well ahead to hopefully happier days, we have also just accepted an invitation to play the Cornwall Punk Festival over the weekend of 18th-20th March 2022 which should feature some big names.
It will be held at Tencreek Holiday Park in Looe and, although headliners have to be sorted for two of the three days, Peter & The Test Tube Babies, Hung Like Hanratty and Duncan Reid & The Bigheads are already on board.
We will be playing a set sometime on the Friday afternoon.
It will be similar, though smaller, to Butlins' Great British Alternative Festival and caravan accommodation instead of chalets or bring your own campervan/caravan – or just buy gig tickets and sort your own accommodation off site.
More info to come soon!
Obviously we have lost more gigs before the expected 19th July Freedom Day with Larry's Bar in Stapleford and the big Rock & Bike Festival having to cancel.
But we are back in action in Derby in a couple of weeks, playing an outdoors summer show at the White Horse (4.30pm) on Sunday, 25th July – hopefully our first proper post lockdown gig!
The weekend after we are on the bill of the excellent-looking Nah Then Festival in Calverton, Notts. Our set will be at 6.50pm on the Friday, 31stJuly.
There will be lots of great bands to watch over the weekend – including Headsticks and Les Carter from Carter USM - as we celebrate a return to festivals and tickets are still available.
You can also expect stalls, great food, entertainment, a real ale bar, children’s entertainment including a magician, a charity raffle and more.
Siobhan Radford, who is one of the festival organisers, said: “We are a family festival showcasing true grassroots UK live music from the festival circuit. Come and find your new favourite band, a fully licensed bar with our fabulous Real Ales from the Black Market Venue in Warsop, Mansfield, and a great selection of stalls, food and entertainment throughout the weekend! We are super excited!”
Weekend tickets are £49.50 for adults, kids are £15 and under 5’s go free.
Friday Day tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for children (aged under 15) from 5pm and Saturday Day tickets cost £20 for adults and £10 for children (aged under 15) from 11:30am. Children under 5 are free!
Day tickets are available for Calverton residents only but weekend tickets are available to all.

The Paypal address for payment is: siobhan203@hotmail.com. When making this payment please select the ‘Family and Friends’ option and add £2 for ticket postage. There are limited amount of day tickets so be quick!
The festival will be held at Sherbrooke Scout Camp, Mansfield Lane, Calverton, NG14 6HP. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead.
A new gig just added to the Verbal Warning list this week is a long overdue return to play the Bunny Hop in Langley Mill on Saturday, 16th October.
See you very soon!
