NEW YEAR'S EVE PARTY TO LOOK FORWARD TO AFTER FLOODS AND ACOUSTIC MAYHEM!

Hope you are all staying safe and dry after a week of flooding thanks to Storm Babet.

It was a crazy end to the week and saw our acoustic gig in Chesterfield postponed on Friday, though we managed to negotiate a path to Belper and back last night! Thanks all who turned out for what was a great night in the end.

We rarely do any unplugged three piece acoustic gigs but we have recently put in seven hours practice for the two we had booked – only to see both cancelled at the 11th hour. How unlucky is that?

The first at The Glass Works, Chesterfield, had to be cancelled on the day on Friday as it would have been impossible to reach the venue through the unprecedented flooding in Chesterfield. And I doubt many would have turned out to watch it even if we had been airlifted in!

That gig is now rescheduled for Friday, 22nd March 2024.

There was very sad news on the other acoustic show as the wonderful Millipede micro bar in Stapleford – where we were to play next month - this week announced it was closing its doors for good. It's a sad sign of the times and it won't be the last and follows another former regular haunt of ours, The Bunny Hop at Langley Mill, a couple of weeks back.

Thanks to Allison and Simon for putting the band on at the Millipede in the past and all the great beers and ciders too. Great memories there that will never be lost.

Also very sad news this week was the untimely death of gig friend of many years Paul Stacey. RIP mate – you will be missed.

Steve Harding resumes VW guitar duties from next month until the end of the year after an excellent run of shows from young Sam Hadfield. But Sam will be back in 2024 as he tries to marry VW guitaring with work schedules.

One big piece of news this week is that VW have been asked to play a New Year's Eve show at The Manor in Toton.

It was looking like we were just going to go out and get ridiculously drunk that night but now we are providing the party instead.

I hope as many of you as possible can come and join us to see out 2023 in punk rock style – get it in your diaries now!

Otherwise we will see you at The Latch Lifter in Ilkeston on Saturday, 26th November or at The Lion, Basford; The Ginger Giraffe, Underwood; Long Eaton's Stumble Inn; The Chequers, Beeston; or the Manor, Toton, for any of our final gigs of another very busy year for us.
