Cheers
everyone who turned up to see in the New Year with us at
Beeston Greyhound at what was probably our longest ever gig!
We will be back there on Saturday, 5th May.
Talking
of Beeston Greyhound, our live DVD of the show there in
September last year -Warts 'n' All - went on sale this week at
our Xmas/New Year gigs and will be on sale at all gig this
year until they've all gone. Two discs, four handsome blokes
and 42 songs for just a fiver – what a bargain!
VW
are looking forward to supporting the Anti-Nowhere League at
Derby's superb Old Bell on Friday, 16th March on a bill with
our local mates Fightback and the splendid Girlfixer – don't
miss it! We might even play our cover of I Hate People! We
will also be playing with Fightback at Spondon Moon on
Saturday, 21st January, the night after a full,
sweaty two-set show back at Nottingham's Tap and Tumbler.
Next
month we are back at the Derby Roundhouse for the annual Derby
Campaign For Real Ale Winter Beer Festival. We are first band
onstage on the Friday night, 17th February, which
gives us ample chance to join you at the bars to sample the
beers. |

New
news |
Cheers
to all for your support at the Codnor Poet and Castle Beer
Festival – we are a big fan of beer festivals!
No
surprise then that we have another one booked, this time at
Derby’s Horse and Groom on Friday, 11th November.
See you at the bar!
It’s
been whispered that VW are also likely to be back on the bill
for the Derby CAMRA Winter Beer Festival at the Roundhouse in
February – watch this space. |

New
news |
For
anyone near the town of the ‘twisted spire’ VW are making
our debut appearance in the Derbyshire town of Chesterfield on
Friday, 2nd December.
We
are playing in the Sun Inn in the centre of town.
Beeston’s
New Venture Club (the old Plessey Club) is also a new venue
for us on Saturday, 19th November.

New
news |
Enjoy
your best New Year’s Eve ever and come and see in 2012 with
us at Beeston Greyhound.
We
are guessing it could be our longest set in history!
Our
Christmas party will be earlier that week on Bank Holiday
Tuesday (27th December) at Long Eaton’s Stumble
Inn – come and jump that turkey off with some VW tunes!
|
| 30/10/11 |
New
news |
Production
of our first ever live DVD is well advanced.
Recorded
in front of a barmy audience at Beeston Greyhound recently, we
have seen the first mix of the film and it looks awesome –
you are all going to be stars!
The
band are so chuffed we have taken to wearing ‘As Seen on
TV’ badges – no, really!
We
are going to try to get it done and available by Christmas to
slip in Santa’s fat, bulging sack. |

It
pains me to confirm, that despite the valiant attempts of organizers,
the 25th anniversary Rock and Blues Custom Bike Show will not

to force the local council to prohibit the gathering.

gigs |
Settle down children
John wishes to communicate with us ..........
"We have confirmed three more gigs this week, two at
the Black Market venue in Warsop, North Notts.
We have heard a lot of good things about this venue from
other bands but have so far been unable to make any of the
dates offered to us there due to clashes.
However, we will finally play there on Sunday, 10th
September alongside The Arguments, from Manchester, and
Kamikaze Sperm, from Sheffield, who are out touring
together.
Doors open at 7.30pm and admission will be £3.
We will be back at the Black Market on Wednesday, 1st
November, doors again 7.30pm and admission only a quid.
Other bands are still to be confirmed for that night.
We are also waiting on confirmation of other bands for
Sunday, 29th October, when we will be playing on an all-day
bill at Sawyers in Kettering. More details to follow on that
one soon.
Don't forget our gig at Derby's Victoria Inn next Thursday
(24th August) when we will be supporting the superb Attila
the Stockbroker and the legendary Patrick Fitzgerald.
Patrick has not graced these shores for many years since he
moved to New Zealand but still has a big cult following over
here and this should be an absolutely cracking night."

Gig News |
The Destructors have pulled out of Thursday night's gig with
Verbal Warning and Barnyard Masturbator at The Attik in
Leicester after cancelling their tour at short notice.
A statement from the band read: "
Saturday, July 08, 2006
| |
The
Tour's Off!
Allen
has decided to pull the tour as despite repeated
requests with our tourmates to be advertise it as
Destructors 666; adverts in punkoiuk, The fly and
numerous other places show it as The Destructors.
While Allen was the lead
singer of the Destructors circa 76-78 it's the band
that were the Blanks (with Neil on vocals) that The
Destructors have been synonymous with. Allen feels
that going out on stage with a band that play a few
classic destructors songs, plenty of new stuff and
Velvet Underground and Iggy Pop covers would be an
open advert for some die hards to cut his throat.
Our tourmates also arranged for our slot at Wasted,
we were a bit confused to see what is effectively a
new band offered top billing and £500, it wasn't
until nearly 3 months after our tourmates had told
us that the slot was definitely for Destructors 666
that we found out they hadn't heard of us.
Destructors 666 will still play the Sunday but of
course the fee not to mention billing has been
busted down somewhat.
I'm sorry to tell you
this at such short notice but Allen really is
fuming. As well as Wasted (which were looking
forward to immensely!) well be organising our own
tour in the new future."
Not
to worry, Derby acoustic punk hero paul carter has
now been added to Thursday's bill and at only £2 to
get in, it should still be a great night. See you
there?

Gig News |
Your
very own VERBAL WARNING will be appearing live in the fresh
air on an outdoor stage at The Steamboat, Trent Lock, Sawley,
next Sunday, 29th May, as part of the free Rock at
the Lock charity Bank Holiday bash.
The
weekend, on the picturesque setting next to the canal lock and
River Trent (be careful where you walk when drunk later on) is
all in aid of cystic fibrosis.
There
is live music all weekend from Saturday to Monday with a dozen
bands plus a variety of other attractions, including a raffle
to win a load of different prizes, including a guitar signed
by Dave Hill of glam gods Slade.
The
mighty Warning are due to take the stage on Sunday at 8pm to
perform a sweaty 75-minute show.
For
all you metalheads out there, Saturday night headliners will
be tribute act Rainbow Rising.
There
is a variety of music and other bands include Toxic
Federation, Tin Soldier, Trez, Crawfish, Black Pig and the
Gospel Blue Grass Band.
Admission
on all three days is completely free of charge but there will
be buckets to collect your pocket shrapnel to help raise cash
for a good cause.
Cystic
fibrosis is a life-threatening genetic conditions that affects
a number of organs in the body, particularly the lungs and
pancreas.
Organiser
Rosie Deakin, of the Steamboat, whose own daughter, Sam, is a
sufferer is hoping to raise money for computers and other
things at the City Hospital Papplewick Ward where children
with cystic fibrosis often have to spend long periods of time.
So
dig deep and hand over some pennies while you enjoy the music
and other attractions
The
event should be a big success if the great British weather
holds out. See you down there and watch out for the water!

Hey

from down south lack of discipline
Right now the VW wagon rolls

Updates |
Well
guys, The world of VW has been quiet for a month now, mainly
because the loudest member (John) has gone and got hitched to
the lovely Janet and they both have been jetting off on
honeymoon. Congrates to Janet and John from the guys and the
Verbettes - Now time for an update
Sadly the Easter Sunday punk
extravaganza at Derby Victoria Inn is now off. Oroginal
headliners Peter and the Test Tube Babies pulled out but the
venue dragged in the Destructors at the new headining act.
Unfortunately they have now also pulled out so the Vic have
decided to knock it on the head which means no gig that day
for your punk rock heroes, Verbal Warning.

Gig News |
It’s all-change to the bill at the punk all-dayer at
Derby Victoria Inn on Easter Sunday, 16th April.
Peter and the Test Tube Babies are now unable to make it but
promise they will reschedule, possibly in May, and the Vic
promise VW will still be support.
However, Warning remain on a bill that is currently being
topped by Peterborough punk legends The Destructors.
Originally formed in 1977, the original line-up had a big
cult following and included Gizz Butt who went on to make it
big in The Prodigy.
A new line-up is now back in business.
Also names on the Derby bill that day so far are Short Bus
Window Lickers (who will have just returned from their
European tour), The Skeptix, Gizmo (acoustic set) and Bym.

Hey all, as you already know
punk rock is 30 years old this year and Verbal Warning’s
very own John Lomas had been invited on to BBC Radio
Nottingham Wednesday (22nd February) to talk about the
Nottingham scene down the years.
He will be on your airwaves at 11.15am to tell you his more
air-friendly memories and, doubtless, cheekily plug the band
at every opportunity!

Another one down!!..
Verbal Warning and it's following invade the Handle Bar,
Nottingham for a well received return to the Nottingham scene.
False starts and cock ups aside the set went better than
thought, though frustration prevailed at the end as a guitar
was seen flying across the floor to the shouts of "Taxi
for Lee!!"...roll on Bishop Stortford. Thanks again
to The peer Pressure Puppets for inviting us along.
